Seriously? Another Christian Blog & Podcast?

For those of us who run in Christian (especially reformed) circles, we know the incessant amount of content being thrown at us, each one with its own spin on how we should think about particular issues inside and outside the Church. So, in the name of everything that is good, why add yet another stream of content to our already saturated Twitter and Facebook feeds? What more could possibly be said that hasn't already been said?

Well, not much, really. And here's the thing, if anything more could be said, we're likely not the voices who would generate that material.

So then what are you doing here?

Great question. Like any amazing relationship, we want to start this one on the right foot, so we'll be very transparent. We want to approach theological concepts from a more practical perspective. Too many people in our churches believe that theology is reserved for the intellectual, the academic, the pastor, or even the theological snob we've all had an interaction with; and while we can attest that each of those people exists, we heartily reject the notion that theology is reserved only to them.

After all, "theology" is simply the fancy word for what we believe about God. So, from the devout Christian to the most defiant atheist, each of them has a theology. And--here's a radical concept--they can have a meaningful conversation together without freaking out. Wild, right?

How's this thing going to work?

Our hope with Simple Theology is to discuss various topics of the Christian faith in a way that removes the fog often associated with these subjects. Psalm 16:11 says, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." The fact that God promises joy and pleasure when we enter into his presence is enough to get us excited about pursuing him. So let us work together in developing a better understanding of who God is, what he wants for his people, and how that affects the way we live our lives today.

A lot of what we say on the podcast will be tongue-in-cheek, so don't take us too seriously. We know you're busy, so we'll also do our best to keep our blog posts short. After all, there are smarter people out there who are capable of articulating these things with greater precision and clarity.

We hope what is produced here will help bring a greater understanding to the topics discussed, and in turn will lead to deep-rooted affections for our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Oh, and as a side note, we would seriously appreciate you sending in suggestions for topics you would like to see covered! If you have some, you can drop those bad boys here.

Thanks again for embarking on this new journey with us! We hope you'll find the content worthwhile.
