Soli Deo Gloria
Soli Deo Gloria or "Glory to God Alone" is the finale to our Solas Series! This doctrine proclaims the truth that all things--including salvation--are for God's glory.
We find this littered throughout Scripture, but a few helpful verses are below:
Romans 11:36: For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.
1 Corinthians 6:20: for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.
1 Corinthians 10:31: So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
Isaiah 43:6-7: I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back!' Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth--everyone who bears my name and is created for my glory. I have formed them; indeed, i have made them."
The main takeaways from this episode are:
All things are for God's glory. Therefore, everything we do should be to glorify God (see verses above).
All the Solas work together.
Our final authority is Scripture Alone (not the Pope or a Pope-like figure), and it's in Scripture where we find the gospel (Romans 10:14-17).
We are saved by God's Grace Alone...
Through Faith Alone...
In Christ Alone...
For the Glory of God Alone.
We glorify God by joyfully living for him. This is often reflected in our enjoyment of him.
